Dear Anon,

1. A lot of people face difficulties when their desk is in front of a window with a beautiful sea view behind them. Choosing a low or back cabinet, if possible, is usually the best solution.

2. Another option is to position the desk in a way that allows for proper support, like against a wall, while facing a more favorable direction.

3. It's better to sit in this setup rather than having your back against a door or other less fortunate locations.

4. In these situations, one might have to consider other factors like luck, especially the Feng Shui of the home.

Warmest Regards,
Cecil

In Summary

When setting up a desk in front of a window with a beautiful view, it is best to choose a low or back cabinet to avoid no backing or support for the chair. Alternatively, positioning the desk against a wall while facing a more favorable direction can also provide proper support. It is important to consider factors like luck and Feng Shui when dealing with less fortunate locations for a desk setup.

Arrow used to divert the flow of the chihttps://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/1246-arrow-used-to-divert-the-flow-of-the-chi/Dear Anon,
`Arrows' and even forks are used not really to divert Qi but to neutralise Sha Qi.
For example, if one has a circular staircases visible from the main entrance door.
The ideal situation is to use a screen. But it is not possible to screen off from the rest of the house e.g. living room.
Some Feng Shui practioners will use e.g. golden arrows i.e. a pair to neutralise it from (two)different locations.
Forks (as in spoons and forks) can also be used for the above purpose.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil

Any ritual for stepping into a bare new househttps://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/4335-any-ritual-for-stepping-into-a-bare-new-house/Dear Yumeko,
1. Usually, it is advisable not to do anything prior to the `symbolic move'.
2. However, the customs differ greatly. And some may:-
2.1 Sprinkle rice and/or salt.
2.2 Some bring in a pair of mandarin oranges (where the oranges represent gold).
Frankly, majority simply go in and open the door when one get's the key.
As mentioned, if one wants to do a `ritual' or first time opening of the door, one can do nothing or any of the above or more.
In my opinion besides rice and/or salt; there are too many variations e.g. placement of Red Packets (ang pow); purchase of `Huat Quay'
Warmest Regards,
Cecil

Kitchen located in the Northwest sector. How?https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/9519-kitchen-located-in-the-northwest-sector-how/

Hi,fficeffice" />

I have recently come across some info and article to realized that it is no good to have the kitchen located in the NW sector of the house. Unfortunately, my kitchen is in the NW sector. This is a South facing flat with main entrance in West (corner unit). The toilet is in the NE. I reside in the SE bedroom of the house.

The stove faces the bathroom and I kept the bathroom door close most of the time. There is kitchen top gap between the stove and the sink. I hardly cooks other than occasionally instant noodles. I uses an electric kettle to boil water.

I am the owner and lives here alone. That is to mean I am the patriach? If it affects the Father of the house to have kitchen in the NW. Does it still affect me as the bread winner in my own household? Does it affects my father who is not living with me?

Is there any cure or remedy without me having to make major changes such as move out and sell the flat?

1. It is advisable to be married prior to using the "An Chuang" bed. If this is not possible, it is recommended to sleep in a different bedroom (not the Master bedroom) until the wedding date arrives and the appropriate "an chuang" rituals have been completed.

2. Typically, an auspicious date is selected that is nearer to the wedding date rather than one that is earlier. You can find our available dates within 30 days at the following link: http://dates.geomancy.net

3. The procedure is detailed in this complimentary e-book:-

Quote:

1. Can we sleep on the bed after we moved in next month before we an chuang ("install" bridal bed)?
2. When do we have to an chuang?
3. What are the an chuang procedures?

Thanks much in advance for your advice.

Feng Shui for Carabelle - Which units are lucky or unlucky today? (From Year 2024 onwards for the next 20 years)https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/9997-feng-shui-for-carabelle-which-units-are-lucky-or-unlucky-today-from-year-2024-onwards-for-the-next-20-years/ Given that both #28 and #29 are similiar; one should try to "map out" which is a better interior in-terms, as you had mentioned for the East Group persons. At the same time, try to check that NW is not at the kitchen or (if possible not at the toilet or a missing corner).

Quote:

Is the stack on the right (eg stack 29) better than left (eg stack 28) on the same blockfor a east group person so that the bedroom can face SE instead of NW. But that would mean that the main door would be in the "opposite" sector.

Number of Fisheshttps://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/4896-number-of-fishes/
Dear Nina,

1. One option is to acquire mosquito larvae granules, which can be found at various plant nurseries throughout the island. The cost for a bottle or packet ranges from S$3.50 to S$4.50.
2. A single tablespoon of these granules can sustain for several weeks.
3. Regarding fish:
There are numerous interpretations concerning the quantity of fish:
1. The concept of Yin and Yang suggests that water is associated with Yin (softness). Yin is also symbolized by even numbers such as 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, etc. To achieve balance in a fish tank, it is recommended to have an odd number of fish, as odd numbers represent Yang. This creates a harmonious presence of both Yin and Yang. Yang is represented by odd numbers like 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, etc.
4. Typically, a fish tank accommodates a solitary dragon fish. Although dragon fish are territorial, having one fish is considered to embody Yang, thus ensuring the presence of both Yin and Yang in the tank.
5. For a small fountain, dragon fish or koi fish are unsuitable due to their need for ample space, including both depth and width.
6. While this point may not pertain to Feng Shui, if you intend to keep fish, it may be advisable to replace the fountain pump with a fish tank filter or pump. A fountain pump merely circulates water through a rotating fan, which could result in small fish being harmed, akin to a smashed sardine spread.
7. For a fountain, it is ideal to incorporate all five elements:
- Water in the tank (actual water)
- Fire represented by lighting
- Wood symbolized by a water plant or a plant placed adjacent to the fountain
- Earth represented by stones or other objects within the fountain
- Metal, which is best represented by a rounded shape of the fountain. Since goldfish (or ranchu, the Japanese term for goldfish) are associated with the metal element, I believe it is unnecessary to adhere to a specific number of fish, especially when the metal element is already present. The reasoning behind not specifying a number of fish is that often, one or two may inadvertently perish, leading to the inconvenience of replacing them each time. This could ultimately result in one losing interest in maintaining the fish. Another factor to consider is that in many cases.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil

Determine Facing Direction of the househttps://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/18281-determine-facing-direction-of-the-house/ Dear Master Lee,

I understand that the basic of determining the feng shui of a residential house is to first determine the facing direction of the house. Fengshui Rituals (dong tu, xie tu, an sheng)https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/9489-fengshui-rituals-dong-tu-xie-tu-an-sheng/

Dear Tomas,

In general, when we first open door; symbolically we want to "deposit" wealth into the new home or apartment.

Start of renovations is often done. Here, the most simple procedure is to bring a hammer or a screw driver if we do not have the hammer and before starting renovations, usually say in mandarin " To all the gods, apologies, as I or we are starting renovations on ..... such a such a date." Afterwards, just knock three times on the floor or some on the wall.

Usually Hokkiens practice more "simple procedures". Many Cantonese on the other hand, have the concept of 5-ghosts or spirits i.e. spirit or god of North, South, East, West and Central =5 ghosts (not bad ones but they are"ghosts" = gods).

Thus, someCantonese may wantto knock all4 corners: North, South , East and West and on thecentrepointpoint floor = centre and place 5 types of fruits (or pray with them).

As there is the Hokkiens, there are the Cantonese, there are the Teochews, Hakka etc..

That is why there are somany differingprocedures. For example, for the 1st time open door, throwing in pineapple usually by the Hokkiens/ Teochews aspineapple sound like "ONG LYE" or prosperity come...

Therefore, frankly there is no right or wrong procedures!

If we analyse carefully, as mentioned earlier.. open door = usually try to deposit some wealth be it throw a pineapple etc...

In this modern day, many couples new purchased their home and really have no time to do all the procedures!

The best that they may do most of thetime are:-

1. Open door procedure
2. Start of renovations (sometimes, delegated to contractors)
3. End of renovations(nowadays.. in modern times.. for a tinyapartment.. usually not done - Many couples find it "time wasted" just to take leave to perform this.)
4. move-in.

Frankly, if we don't do para 3, still won't "die" or have dire repercussions. In fact, for every 1 person who does para 1 to 4, there are at least 5 more who don't even do the above procedure.

Thus, if one is so particular about wanting to do the above procedure, best is to look for your immediate family members : elders be it parents, grand parents or uncles or aunties to check what procedure could be done based on often one's dialect group.

I would normally recommend para 1, 2 (skip 3) and go for 4.

1 and 4 can be found in this forum. As for para 2, I have elaborated a simple procedure, above. Some even go as far as burning joss papers, light up joss sticks / candles.. No right or wrong answer...

Warmest Regards,
Cecil

1. In my opinion, what you wrote automatically linked me to the attached illustration.
2. Especially today in Singapore; with so many responsibilities, worries, congestion and putting up with huge population increase (and more are coming)....
3. I for one, would not want to become a "slave" especially to my TOILET! *Sucks*.
4. Well, don't get me wrong.
5. Under the Chinese Holy Trinity of Luck:
5.1. Heaven Luck = born with (ba zi) = 33.3 %
5.2. Earth Luck = Feng Shui of home and office = 33.3%
5.3. Human Luck = Here, feeling good belongs to this category. = 33.4%
Total = 100 %
6. Human nature is as such.. If someone gives us a "solution" even if it is a sugar coated pill; some people would feel "damn" good about it. Thus, if you feel "shiok" about the solution; and if it helps you to bring or pull up your Human Luck, overall, your combined luck is higher (note above: 33.3 % of this and that...
7. If it makes you feel good, then even with a sugar coated pill: You certainly feel good right? You can then feel at ease.
8. As to meditation.. this was the trigger point in bring up the attached illustration. Again, one can meditate anywhere... might as well meditate at one's THRONE ROOM right? Feel shiok (good) right... Go ahead.. make your day! (not mine)...

In my opinion, I would not be too concerned with the `Relationship area'. The staircase over the main entrance is acceptable. So long it is not a toilet - which is inauspicious. There should not be any problem using the main entrance door.
Overall, you may consider checking out using the Free Eight House Report to check on how suitable the house is to you and what intangible force influence in the various bedrooms for various persons staying in the house.
If there is a toilet at the center, I would sincerely recommend that you can do a audit of the birth chart i.e. using Flying Star Feng Shui. Here, it is favoured because, it can help to neutralise any bad or inauspcious sector of the house and make the house more favourable for you and your family.

Cecil

Moving and Pregnancyhttps://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/13881-moving-and-pregnancy/

Similar concern:-

New home and "Do we need to take note of anything due to my wife pregnancy?"

Reply:-

1. Based on general Chinese customs; to avoid moving the existing bed of conception.

2. If you need to move the bed, Mrs must not see the move and later, should not visit the bedroom and see that it is moved.

2.1 The above is the most important Chinese consideration.

3. Thus visiting the new home to collect keys etc.. is a non issue. But, once a while some parents tell their daughter in law cannot do so. etc.. But this is more of the conservative side.

2.2 Also do check with parents. As some parents have additional taboos if any. As different elders have different concerns.

3. Another common sense is that during the move; best that Mrs stay away especially if heavy furniture and items are moved.

Can there be two main doors in the house?https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/1377-can-there-be-two-main-doors-in-the-house/ Dear Daniel,

I strongly encourage everyone to first grasp the fundamental principles of Feng Shui. When discussing two main doors, we are focusing solely on the 'end result' rather than the underlying causes of the situation. It is essential to comprehend the root of the matter; initially, the number of main doors—whether two or three—is not the primary concern.

In 'proper' Feng Shui, if a house has two doors, it is advisable to conduct a Feng Shui audit to explore the scenarios associated with using Door A versus Door B. If one door is found to be more auspicious than the other, it is preferable to utilize that door more frequently for our own purposes. Our concern for visitors should be minimal unless they come nearly every day.

More importantly, we should symbolically designate one of the doors as our main entrance. While it is easy to focus on superficial aspects, we must not overlook the deeper reasons behind them. For instance, we often admire a graceful duck gliding across a pond, yet we fail to notice the effort it exerts paddling beneath the surface.

Furthermore, Feng Shui should not be viewed as a panacea or a quick fix, nor should it be regarded as the focal point of the universe with countless applications. This perception is simply inaccurate.

Warmest Regards,
Cecil

Front door facing stairhttps://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/13458-front-door-facing-stair/

1. In my opinon, what you mentioned is based on this category of Feng Shui: "Symbolism in Feng Shui'.
2. What is considered inauspicious especially when opening the main entrance door; one can see the staircase.(The main implication is that of the staircase leading DOWNWARDS).
3. Here, it implies that wealth is drained away from the main doorand due to gravity, dain downwards towards the staircase and down, down, down.
4. For this very reason, is wheremany seem to believe that it is inauspicious.
5. Of couse, one can argue that a staircase is meant for going up and down. But, the fact that it "flows" down is the mother of all greviances.
6. There is no hard or fast rule. The test is to stand at the main entrance. If the stairs leads upwards, then OK. But from where one is standing, and can see the staircase leading downwards; whether it is directly in front or at the side is already considered "applicable".

Cannot find a good position for bed! My gua is number 3.https://www.geomancy.net/forums/topic/20558-cannot-find-a-good-position-for-bed-my-gua-is-number-3/ Hi Master, i’m looking for help as the master room (in the picture), has a full window side, a wall sharing with toilet, a wall with door, and another wall with the wardrobe.

Is it wise to open a new door (on the left), and close up the one on the right and hack away the wardrobe?

Or is it okay to share wall with the toilet as the toilet bowl is not on the same wall as the bed head?

My best sleeping direction is: North, East, South, South East.
